The flower has fallen, but a colourful calyx remains displaying bright red splashes.
Begonias are a delight in the shady garden, in these two species displaying dominantly silver and pink splashes and blotches.
Bromeliad, Nidularium, splashes rouge on its leaves when ready to flower.
This is an oddball with its many splotches forming sort of a pattern.
Colloquially called Tigerlilly has splashed and splotched a delicate pattern on its petals.
The always popular Hibiscus, this one is from Cuba, shows off yellow with deep red splashes.
Bromeliad, Neoregelia limegreen splotches and a splash of pink on each leaf.
Truly beautiful, varigation with splashes and splotches.

Another beautiful series of photos, Titania! What wonderful plants you have in your garden. What beautiful leaves they have; huge leaves with various and beautiful patterns. Titania, these are beautiful splotches. My favorite is the oddball.
Since you grow so many wonderful bromeliads, I wanted to ask you a question. I have a fairly large Tillandsia. It flowered and produced seed. Yesterday, I noticed that many tiny Tillandsia germinated in situ on the flossy filaments that bind the seed together. Have you ever noticed this phenomenon (germination on the mother plant) with any of your plants?

Hallo liebe Elfe. Es ist ja toll, dass heute auch die tropischen Pflanzen erhaeltlich sind. Als ich in der Schweiz war in,07 sah ich viele Orchideenin Toepfen auf Fenstersimsen und Bougainvilleas in Kuebel gepflanzt. Also die Sommergaerten haetten das ja gar nicht noetig, aber es ist halt "fun" etwas tropisches und anderes zu pflanzen.

Titania, I will try to photograph my baby tillandsia. The problem is that they are so tiny and that I don't have a macro lens. Right now, I have some in a dish with a bit of water. I'll try some vermiculite as a base and try to pot up the tiny plants.
