Growing in the shade;

A pretty curly leafed fern. It grows with underground rhizomes.

Basket fern with new emerging leaves.

Staghorn fern growing on a palm.  The seed attaches  onto suitable, moist places

I like the friendly faces of busy Lizzy peeping from between other shade loving plants.

Fijian Harefoot fern;

Dark green and shiny Holly fern.

Staghorn fern.

Foot of the giant King fern with emerging leaf. The leaves can grow over 2 m long.

Rex Begonias thrive in half shade all year round.

Believe it or no:
In order to get power and retain it, it is necessary to love power; but love of power is not connected with goodness but with qualities that are the opposite of goodness, such as pride, cunning and cruelty.": Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoi - (1828-1910) Russian writer

Your garden is like a botanical garden. I grew a lot of the curly type of fern in Singapore. They are still there even though I have been away for 4 years.

I don't think I have ever seen a Fijian Harefoot fern or the King fern
but they both look like something I should have ..lol
Everything looks so pretty.

Great variety of ferns there. I like the Holly fern and have a few of them in the garden, they are hardy.

Very nice collection of shade plants. Especially love all the different ferns you grow. I've seen that King Fern before and it's awesome! I feel so cool and refreshed on this 95-deg. day looking at all your shady plants.

Fijian Harefoot fern is new to me too. My staghorn lost most of its leaves in the summer, and is now covalescing in the shade.

Those ferns are AWESOME! I hope my staghorn gets that big someday... its staying in a pot til it gets bigger... just in case.

You have beautiful ferns! Love to have staghorn fern in my garden but I have an issue with space. Busy lizzy look so cute there he he...

You have some beautiful leaf shaped there. The Busy Lizzie looks quite at home amongst all that greenery.

I absolutely love ferns. They take me to moist, green places very unlike the desert in which I live. I actually do have a fern that grows quite well on my patio in a pot despite the lack of humidity and moisture and for that I am grateful.

Barbara

Do you have this plant which my brother in the Gold Coast grows?

Dear Trudy...I'm always amazed to see such an exotic collection of plants every time I'm here.The Fijian Harefoot fern and the Holly fern--new to me. I have some kinds of ferns but not all of them are looking great.

We've just been through another tragedy in the family. My sister's husband passed away on July 4. It was sudden and we're still trying to come to terms with it.

I have quite a bit of catching up to do....always enjoy your Sky watch pics too!
