BEAUTIES.... not to be underestimated

Yuraygir Nationalpark
60 kilometres of striking cliffs, rocky headlands, isolated beaches and quiet lake systems, set against a backdrop of forests, heaths, estuaries and wetlands, make Yuraygir the longest stretch of undeveloped coastline in NSW.

Wildflowers from the Youraygir Nationalpark, Northern NSW

Greetings from Portugal;

S. from Loule, Algarve in Portugal has send me those fantastic pictures of wildflowers on the beach. Last year when I was visiting there they were already past flowering.

Greetings from Switzerland;

Alpenrose/ Rhododendron ferrugineum

Dotterblume/ Caltha palustris

A. from Switzerland has made the photos and send them to me.The wildflowers grow high up in the alps of the Canton Grisons.

Believe it or not:

When grass is dry in morning light,

Look for rain before the night,

When dew is on the grass,

Rain will never come to pass.

Organic tip of the week:
Think "biodiversity". Using many different kinds of plants encourage many different kinds of beneficial insects to take up residence in your yard.

Use plants in your landscape that are either native to your area, or were imported from areas with similar climate and soil. They require a lot less water and care, and won't die off in the winter.

Shade gardens are low maintenance - they require less watering, slower growth, and fewer weeds to fight.
Organic gardening tips.

Have a nice day and thank you for your visit.

It's a good thing that most countries have national parks. At least that way, nature will be preserved.

Gorgeous, gorgeous photos! (I was particularly drawn to the ones from Portugal as I'm just eager to make a visit there one day). In a week my husband and I will be heading out to one of the national parks near the border between Austria and Italy so I'm crossing fingers that there will be interesting flora and fauna to photograph.

Katarina thank you for visiting. Nationalparks are a must have for any country.

Rowena, thank you for leaving a comment. I hope you have a lovely time and find many interesting plants and critters to take home preserved in your camera!

Great photos - wild plants from Portugal look the same as the one from Croatia (at our sea side). I totally agree with your "biodiversity" advice and I try to use it in my garden - it would be much easier(and better for earth, in general) if we'd read a bit more and try to find alternative ways to improve our gardens instead of using too many inorganic substances.

You've made these often overlooked and most-often grumbled about plants look so attractive. Great post . Especially, the advice at the end.

Followed your link from Sky Watch Friday and instantly recognised the coast line. My family live in the area and we have spent most summer holidays walking that park.

Thank you for sharing the beauty of the region with the larger community. It is a special place.

What a fun botanical trip around the world! Some of the plants look so exotic to me -- it is exciting to see such different flora. Thanks for the tour! :)

Wonderful photos - a very interesting post.

Dear titania, thank you for visiting my blog and leaving your kind message. I have briefly looked over your blog and find it very beautiful and interesting. My husband once visited Australia years ago and he still becomes exstatic when he only hears the word Australia!
As I can see from your pictures, he IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
I will soon come back to your blog for a longer journey!
Have a nice day, Maria

Trudi, I've always been fascinated by Australian flora and fauna. Looked up my book "Wild Australia" after going through all your beautiful pictures. This is a fun way to learn...like the book coming alive in your post. Wildflowers are beautiful anywhere, but the alpine ones, more so!

It's like visiting the corners of the earth - so lovely to stumble across your blog - your 'winter' is certainly a lot gentler than our's here in Oakville Ontario.

Happymouffetard thank you for your comment.

Thank you Maria for visiting back, and your nice comment.

Kanak thanks a lot for your comment. Yes, I think wildflowers are so subtle and beautiful. I wonder what sort of wildflowers grow in your climate?

barbarapc, thank you for taking the time to comment. I wanted to return the visit, but I couldn't get to your blog.

Great set of pics. A few of those were some of the most interesting plants I've ever seen. Still trying to figure out that gray one.

Thank you for sharing all these wonderful photos. I particularly love the beach scene. So peaceful! It makes me homesick :)
The wildflowers are fascinating. There are so many prettys. The yellow ones from Switzerland are especially lovely.
The photo of your granddaughter flying that huge kite is enchanting! :)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
