SkyWatch; Friday; Wheeling....

I was fascinated watching hundreds of cockatiels wheeling and turning in big circles settling on the nearby trees, taking off again in huge flocks until they found their roosting place.

(I have left the pictures fairly big, so please click and scroll to see the impact of the birds.)

I am reading In the Heart of the Counry by J M Coetzee (who lives in Australia). At one point there is a beautiful sentene that talks about rainclouds rolling in trains in the sky .. the phrase came back to me when I saw your picture. beautiful.

Titania, those are beautiful photos. I immediately enlarged them, even before I read what you had written. I can't imagine having so many cockatiels flying free.

Great pictures of the birds. Seems quite exotic to me to have cockatiel flocks flying around the neighborhood.

A beautiful photo, and the birds are a wonderful contrast to the tree.

Trudi, wonderful to see your gorgeous Aussie birds! I miss them. You have such a fantastic variety. My mum fed so many of them and enjoyed them immensely.
I enlarged the photos. Amazing!

Hallo Titania,
vergrößert wirken die Bilder ungeheuer spannend und dramatisch - auch ich beobachte immer sehr gerne einen Vogelschwarm, Stare sind es bei uns oder im Winter auch Finken...
Liebe Grüße

Beautiful shots, Titania. I particularly like the small stand of trees in the first one.

I imagine it would have been extremely noisy as they jostled for position!

Wonderful photos - amazing to think that cockatiels fly free where you are, rather than being caged birds.

Often I don't look at the photos in their larger format, but those birds were well worth it!

Fantastisch liebe Titania! So viele Vögel auf einmal gibt es hier in der Stadt nicht zu sehen. Ja vielleicht im Winter die Möwen.
Liebe Grüsse und guten Wochenstart morgen

Hi Tatania,

I was thinking of you when I went to Muriwai and saw your Australian gannets here. May be you cockatiels want to be like the gannets, and come here to roost.

I went yesterday, and saw these beautiful Aussie birds. haven't down loaded the photos, but you can see some from an older posts.

Wonderful photos. Usually when I see a good shot like that my camera is nowhere in sight. Great shot, Titania.

Wonderful birds and sky photo!

Titania, I have given you an Honest Scrap Award on my blog, and would like to have you participate, if you have the time. I understand if you cannot. Simply blame James as he did it to me, so I'm playing it forward. ;)

The best and one of a kind of heavenly scenery. Let's put it this way, they are Angels in disguise appearing in the sky as birds. Don't you think so?

Marvelous sight on high!

These are adoring and noisy birds aren't they....but heard they are considered pests somepart of the country.

Beautiful shots and clouds, but the birds are Little Corellas. I reared one from a totally naked chick.
